Courses
Apex 360 are accredited by the Leadership Skills Foundation to deliver the courses below and have been awarded ‘Best Practice in Quality Assurance for 2025/26’.
We know there are life-changing benefits for young people who participate in sports and physical activity. They tell us about the increase in their confidence, resilience, and the overall improvement to both their physical and mental health.
With Sports Leadership, we have the chance to use sports and physical activity as a way of supporting learners to develop the essential skills they need to plan, develop and deliver activities that bring these benefits to their communities.
Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership
The Level 2 Sports Leadership qualification is a nationally recognised certification that teaches generic leadership skills like planning, organisation, communication, and teamwork through the medium of sport. Successful candidates can lead groups in sports and physical activities under indirect supervision, and the qualification is a stepping stone for careers in teaching, coaching, or other fields working with young people. It involves a practical, hands-on approach, often requiring a set number of leadership hours, with no formal exams.
Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership (worth 16 UCAS points)
The Level 3 qualification in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that teaches skills for planning and delivering sports sessions and physical activities. It involves a mix of theoretical study and practical experience, requiring participants to complete a set number of hours (often 24 or 30) leading activities for various groups, such as young people, the elderly, or those with disabilities. The course aims to develop confidence, communication skills, and leadership abilities, and can be a valuable stepping stone for further education or careers in sports development, teaching, or coaching.
We are currently running these courses at a subsidised rate for Secondary Schools. Contact Tom at sportsleaders@apex360.co.uk for further information.
This workshop aims to increase awareness of safeguarding and protecting children, helping coaches to recognise signs of abuse and poor practice, and deal sensitively and effectively with issues that arise. It also prompts a review of coaching practice to ensure that sport provides a positive and enriching experience for children.
This workshop will help you to:
• identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for you.
• explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise how these may potentially impact on your response.
• recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of child abuse and poor practice
• take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST be 16 or over to attend this workshop. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you may only attend this workshop if accompanied by a responsible adult. You MUST tell us if this applies to you when you book your place.
This workshop is a Minimum Operating Standard requirement for many governing bodies of sport, it can be delivered to all those responsible for organising children’s sport (eg within governing bodies of sport, local authorities, sport and leisure centres, sports clubs) and those who lead or deliver children’s sport programmes (eg coaches, leaders, instructors, development officials, administrators, volunteers, parents).
REFUNDS: A full refund will be provided for course booking cancellations received at least 1 week (5 full working days) before the course start date. Unfortunately, cancellations received after this date cannot be refunded. Bookings made within a week (5 full working days) of the course start date also are ineligible for refunds if cancelled.
